My Grandson was 5 on Wednesday, today he was asking me about Jesus and how old he was when he died.  I couldn't remember what we'd been taught in school, so I said he was 26    He looked at me for a few seconds and said  "He didn't have very long driving did he ?" 

I'll have to tell him tomorrow that Jesus was 33 (allegedly)

At what point in his life (or death) do the AD year timer commence?  I do know there wasn't a year zero, since the Romans didn't have a symbol for it on their number system.

The first year has to be 1 AD and the year before 1 BC. 

Anno domini means the year when he was born. Unfortunately Ante domini had the same initials so the Romans had to ask us what the call the year before.

I don't think my Grandson was too concerned about his death, only that he wouldn't have had long driving before he died - well he is only 5
