Can't understand it. My Samsung smart TV has lost YouTube and I can't understand how nor why. Tried Goggle and it might as well all have been double Dutch. Tried to open YouTube yesterday and must have pressed a wrong button somehow. This is a disaster - I watch a lot of YouTube. Any ideas please?

If that hasn't sorted it then open up chatgpt

You may need to create an account or signin using a gmail or other account if you have one

I just copy pasted your post directly into it and it went through a series of steps that may well sort you out

https://chatgpt.com/

It's now my goto way of getting answers to all sorts of things rather than using google and trawling through a load of dross and adverts. It my not work of course in which case you can engage with it by asking follow on questions

CoPilot is the Microsoft version  which may be better or worse

Klondike,  I have seen you mention this chatgpt   before,  but what is it, and where is it, and what does it do please?

It can be accessed using a browser by clicking the link I put in the post above.

You can ask it questions and it comes back with answers but be aware that those answers were gleaned from the Internet and may be out of date or plain wrong just as stuff found via Google searches could be.

On mobile devices it will be in the appropriate app store too as an app for the device.

On windows PCs I think there is an app.

I don't use CoPilot much but apart from the link there will probably be apps too. You are time limited using free accounts with chatgpt and may need to wait for a fresh bit of free time. I don't know if copilot is or not.

thanks for the advice - tried the various suggestions but can't make any of them work. Prob may be that my TV is 10 years old and the advice seems to be aimed at post 2017 models. This really is a disaster for me. Not too bad at the moment because s-i-l Mary is with me until New Year, but when I am on my own YT on the TV is invaluable in slightly reducing the awful emptiness of the house. My legs and balance have deteriorated to the extent that it is not safe to try and walk around out of doors.

Sorry to hear that you are having mobility problems.

Can you cast youtube from your phone to the TV?

that was one of the suggestions, but I couldn't make head nor tail of it. Dawned on me that I can get round the background music problem - I can get on the computer, turn the sound up, and leave the office and lounge doors open, but that doesn't help with the other elements of YT - most frustrating.

Thanks for that Klondike.   My fault, I hadn't seen the link you had put up.

It just occurs to me to ask whether you use a FireStick to connect your TV to t'internet?
I'm assuming that you have a router of some sort nearby.
About £40 or so online.

I use a Firestick on my old telly to get Netflix etc..it's quite old now but ?I do need to clear the cache every so often and sometimes re-start Firestick.

What was the question again  ?

I also use a firestick on the other TV - which I hardly ever use - really in the other lounge and there for guests - but the 'main' TV is a smart Samsung getting the message from the BT router
