There's a lot of sruff in that picture that looks rather familiar to me although I think it could predate the 70s apart from the artificial tree - I'm not sure when they started to appear.

We , as kids, would make our own chains..
Mum used to buy coloured oblong paper that had gummed edges... We used to lick them and link them..
We shared our lick in them days..
I don't remember a Christmas wreath on the door..
Only posh people had them..
Not worth putting a wreath up anyway.. someone would nick it..

Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Another memory

Come downstairs and find at least one chain didn't make it through the night. How could I have forgotten that?

How many of you recall trying to salvage the chains for another years' use, but inevitably gave up?

How did you stick them up in those pre-blutack days?  Thank heavens tor drawing pins and picture rails.

paper chains. We put one up, one of the links failed, and it came down - and one of the cats decided to kill it!
Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

They were a thing of the past once the decorations became my job when tailor made were the order of the day so I don't recall them being saved. I do remember them being made every year which was part of the fun so I doubt any saving worked.
