The debate on the radio today was ..
Do you buy a Christmas present for your pet.. and does your pet know that it is Christmas.?

We have Bertie and Lottie.. Both have a present under the tree..
They do not know it's Christmas.. of course they do not.. But they associate decorations and Christmas tree with 'goodies'..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Mups

Nah,  of course they don't know its Christmas,  except for perhaps a change of routine and maybe more people and noise in the house,  with flashing lights and pressies all over the floor which they are forbidden to touch!
They probably just think humans have gone a bit barmy.

Having said that,  mine usually have some extra nice bicky's and a new toy.
Only thing is,  they have probably got more toys than Pets at Home have got now!

P.S.   Dog lovers will already know this,  but don't forget,  watch the Grand-children or anyone else doesn't  feed your pooch Christmas cake,  Christmas pud, Turkey skin,  Stuffing,  Nuts, Mince pies . . . .   and so on.
What we enjoy can be so harmful to them.

Alex

I didn't know stuffing was poisonous for dogs, so thanks for that Mups :upvote:

Dageus used to get excited when he saw parcels, he always had his nose right in there, hoping it was for him.
He was delighted when he was given a parcel to rip open by himself. Did he know it was Christmas? No he didn't but he lived in hope of visitors bearing parcels.
God I miss that daft dog.

I believe it's the Salt and the onions, Alex.

Fleur used to send a Christmas card (signed with a paw print) to Veronica and to her 'cousin' Paddy down in Kent!
Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

I've bought some treats for the granddogs.   Woof.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Yep both dogs got a toy and a treat parcel to open, they loved it. Dageus was born with a dickie tummy so you had to be careful what you gave him to eat. Christmas Dinner was out but he often got cooked chicken and boiled rice as a treat sometimes with a couple of scrambled eggs mixed through. Head went down and didn't come up till the dish was spotless.

Alex

You obviously miss him a lot, they do leave a huge hole in our lives when they leave us.  Lovely boy Dageus

Raven

Thanks yes he was my precious boy. I never knew how bad losing him would feel. I don't know what to do with myself sometimes, if I was fed up a beach walk was always in order. I don't like walking on my own.

I feel so sorry for you Raven,  and I would be just the same without mine.  The very thought scares me.
As you say,  it is not the same walking on your own too.

Would you consider helping a rescue dog that's perhaps had a tough time?
