You need an ology in cooker clocks.

The ones I've come across had a completely illogical series of button presses and as often as not still won't work properly first try. They certainly aren't aimed at man setting without reading.

DON'T THROW AWAY THE INSRUCTIONS. If you do make sure you have a take away menu handy.

I've done our cooker clock!  :yay:
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I keep all instructions from things I buy, got a big folder of them. The cooker oven one, just doesn't want to do what the instructions were saying. I checked it on YouTube as well and the guy made it so easy, it was the correct cooker too. BUT, my cooker wasn't having it so I went into Screw You Mode and left it. Not going to go through all that again.

I can usually rely on my watch and a wall clock to reset to GMT, as they are corrected by radio signals (one from the UK and the other from Germany) but unfortunately not last night.  All of our other clocks are clockwork or electric and so require changing twice a year.

The telly, at least, shows the 'correct' time although this morning the newscaster made a mistake as apparently her own clock (out of our vision) also had not changed.

Personally, I look forward to the day when this archaic GMT/BST change nonsense has finally ended.  One hour more or less of daylight makes absolutely no difference these days, and of course there is no actual increase in daylight hours anyway; it is just shifted back and forth.

Top tip.  Stick tape over cooker clock and use a phone or Alexa timer instead.

I have never used the cooker clock, years of taking note of the time I put whatever in the oven, and then keeping an eye on the kitchen clock.
Old habits ect ect.

If the eco-nitiwts that want to ruin the world had any sense they would advocate summer time all year and even double summer time.

In fairness it makes more sense to have daylight when people are up rather than several hours before they get up. That creates problems in Scotland of course where winter days are a lot shorter than further south and running on BST all year round makes dawn come pretty late.

I blame the railways.  There wasn't a need for a unified time before they came about, and local variations based on sunrise and sunset were abundant.

Both my wrist watches self adjusted but the wall clock didn't.

The UK time transmitter was based in but some idiot decided to move it to a transmitter in Cumbria & it's always been flakey ever since.

I didn't know that.  Where was it before?  Cumbria is probably a bit nearer to me, but I don't know.

I have  just noticed that my mobile alters its time automatically,  but the landline phone doesn't.
How odd.
I thought they both did but seems I have to reset the landline myself.      :hmm:

I wonder if we can keep this thread alive until next Spring's clock adjustment.  Then we could either post mirror images of our current ones, or make comments such as "I refer you to post #..." 😬😬
