In Britain from next Tuesday it will be a criminal offence to keep a chicken without registering it with the authorities.  Just so you know :wtf:

I'm probably wrong,  but I thought they had to be registered anyway if you had over a certain number - was it 50?
Something to do with the Bird Flu epidemics and locating where poultry is kept.

It was, but they changed it down from 50 to..... 1.

for chicken farms - at one time my neighbour had 9,000, fair enough - but for ONE?

If you have a budgie, then you don't need to register it unless you take it outside for training.

Amazing how they can keep track of chickens, but not bloody dinghy boys  :rolleyes:

My son used to take half a dozen at a time when they were "retired" from egg farms and keep them till until they had all died as replacing them one by one doesn't work - upsets the pecking order. The last one died from the last batch some time back and he decided to have a garden again rather than get another group. They are in abysmal condition when they come from a farm but do recover.

Does that new law include the ones still in the eggshell?
