We had to buy a new cooker for the Perth house on the last trip. I went to Curry's armed with my imperial tape measure and the space, width ect of my old cooker written down.
The guy serving us thought it was hysterical when I was measuring the new ones. Saucy young scunner.

a lot of kitchen stuff seems to be standardised on fitting in a 60cm cube these days. stuff that doesn't will have something like narrow etc. in the title. obviouslty not stacked fridge freezers of course. integrated units have no standards on door mount positioning though.

nothing stays the same for long. 

at least usb c is reversable. gone are the days of try it. don't go in. turn it over. don't go in. turn it over again fits. demonstrating the principal that the universe is weirder than you can imagine.

True.  Mind you, pity they couldn't work out how to make the usb A reversible.  It's one of those butter side down situations and the more awkward it is to reach/see the female port, the greater the likelihood that the male is the wrong way up.

I sent for a UCB C to connect my tablet to the big telly.  It doesn't work, but perhaps my telly is too old.

Reversibility has to be achieved by clever circuitry in the plugs themselves to avoid having to simply double up the number of conductors/contacts so they could always end up in the right position. Think about it.

They are often to be found snoring in an armchair instead of doing the washing up.

They can't change a standard. Type A is set. Forever to be a pita as are mini and micro and for that matter B. They are still making stuff that uses it. Presumably because it doesn't have the smart electronics that make it reversible so it is cheaper.
