I've got loads of tumbled crystals at home ... and one or two nicer chunks of amethyst.
I used to be quite into crystal healing years ago and one suggestion to treat a headache was to stick some amethyst on your forehead with a plaster.
I can vouch that it worked,  At least the pain moved and I got a stiff neck instead,

I started learning about them years ago too, Mort,  and Reiki as well,  but eventually I gave most of my books away to a lady who wanted to learn too.   Still got my crystals though,  including a beautiful piece of Amethyst which I keep wrapped in a drawer so that it doesn't fade,  as Amethyst does in the sun.   Still got several pendants too.
Haven't played with them for a few years now though.

Can't say that this stuff has tickled my interest.  But, I did try some astral projection hypnosis many years ago.  Don't recall it working for me.

But, given other experiences, it remains true that "There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy"

Thus my mind remains open.

Dex,  I believe that humans,  no matter how educated they are,  will never know everything.

When my Gertie was only 8 weeks old she was diagnosed by two Vets  that she had a  faulty Mitral Valve.
I was advised to return her to the breeder.   I loved that pup so much and didn't want to send her back and never know what became of her,   so I asked for a referral to a veterinary Cardiologist instead.
The appointment came through, and I took her for a heart scan.   My Vets diagnosis was confirmed.

To cut a long story short,  I took her for hands-on healing almost every week for the next 12 months.
Then around her 1st birthday she had to go back to the specialist for a check up plus another scan.
I was then given the news that her dicky ticker was now perfect.

My own vet was really surprised when I told him, and got his stethoscope out to have a listen to her chest.   
He agreed with the specialist.  Her heart was beating normally again.   
My vet admitted then, that he hadn't expected her to live, and that is why he told me to take her back to the people who bred her.

On her birthday last April,  she was 10 years old.

What is hands on healing ?

I am not good at explaining this,  you would need to read up on it to get a better explanation, Muddy.

But basically,  it is an 'alternative healing'  method,  like Crystal healing.    Nothing to do with medical things.

Some people are believed to be good at channeling energy from various sources.  e.g.  their Spirit guides and God,  etc.  but like anything else (even our GP's),  some people are better at what they do than others.

I have had healing from some who's hands get so warm when they are energised that I have felt the healing warmth even when their hands a foot away from me.    Others actually lay their hands on you in various places (with your permission of course) and you can again feel the energy coming through them.

A long time ago now, I was learning about things like this, and found it can, and does,  work.
I began learning about Reiki energy, and actually achieved my Reiki 1  certificate, then went on to get my Reiki  2 as well.    I also passed an animal Healing course once, as well,  but that was many years ago.
Trouble is,  I didn't go into business with my knowledge like some do,  so I have forgotten most of it now.   

I do know that some people have the gift and others haven't - even though they like to think they have.
It can feel so soothing and relaxing,  and that alone can help us unwind and feel so much better.

We took our daughter to a cranial osteopath when she was a baby, as she was exceptionally cranky at the time.  The laying on of hands, without any pressure whatsoever (so it wasn't a massage) helped a lot.

I've tried it on her and, more successfully, on my cat.  Maybe I'm imagining it, but it feels as thought there's movement and energy travelling through my fingertips, and it seems to be doing something relaxing to them.  Weird, as I barely touch them.

i never knew you did any courses Mups? It seems a shame you stopped after Reiki Level 2.

Acupuncture is probably more familiar to a lot of people ... though the principle is the same.
The meridians ...or energy pathways around the body.
