Good luck and best wishes. X

Well that didn't go as planned. Spent the morning in the hospital getting my 2nd iron infusion, but got a shock on the way home, the dressing got full of blood and started dripping all over the place and the veins all swollen. Just what I needed.  :yell:

Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

It stopped bleeding a wee while ago, seems to be ok now, had to hold pressure on it for ages but it finally stopped. All cleaned up now and just the swelling vein left, hoping it will go down soon.
I've had these cannulas in my arm a lot over the past ten years but it's never ended up like this, usually you wouldn't know anything had even been in my arm.

Raven,  I think if I were you I would definitely  mention it to them.
It could be important as to what they have to do next time.

Take care.

I've had a canula that ended up hurting more than the operation scar in the past. I think they take a bit of skill to insert. I've never had one leak after at all though.

As you managed to stop it ok I imagine that will be the end of it though apart from maybe bruising or soreness if you are unlucky.

Mups

I think you're probably right about it taking some skill, Klondike.

I once had blood taken and the wretched woman bruised me arm from one side right round to the other.  It was purple and black,  and right old mess.

That had never happened before,  or since.  When I went  I told them I did not want that nurse again.

It takes practice.

The hospital here used to be a walk in service and was brilliant. It's a bloody shables now and you book about a month in advance. The nurses that work there take blood all day every day and ive never had one botch it. GP nurses are a gamble.

We have to go to Nene Park for blood tests here.
Do you know of Nene Park, Klondie?

Not sure. There were some places i drove to for covid jabs but mostly it's just the doctors or Northampton General. I've had several elective operations and had all of those done on the NHS at Three Shires.
