The joke, the wind or the national debt? The jokes vary - over 500 of them and they get served at random. The wind comments vary according to how strong it is. The National Debt just gets bigger and bigger - it might only be half the sig for £80k by now.

The National Debt..I just looked again, I am starting to feel responsible for it...

I know I have been overspending on pipe tobacco and lager, I am running out of Green Shield stamps.

Quote from: Scrumpy on August 03, 2025, 09:46:50 AMI have noticed the evenings beginning to get darker earlier..
I was watching the tv the other evening.. fell asleep during the program.. like one does..
When I awoke it was pitch black..  Time 9:30..
I dozed off at around 8:15... it was still light..

Yes, 'tis true Scrumps.
I was still fiddling about outside watering and stuff until 10 pm  recently.  Too dark now though.
It's only a few minutes a day the darkness increases,  but it soon adds up.

Midsummer (Summer Solstice):
The sun rises early and sets late, providing a long period of daylight. In Thurso, this means around 18 hours and 22 minutes of daylight.

Shortest Day (Winter Solstice):
The sun rises much later and sets much earlier, resulting in a short day. In Thurso, this is around 6 hours and 18 minutes of daylight

Yes,  Summer Solstice was  21st June,  so for the last 6 weeks or so, its been slowly getting dark earlier.
It's only this last week I have noticed it though, because I have been outside still.
Don't suppose I would really notice if I was inside watching telly.

Oh! ....I missed it. I was so looking forward to dancing around our rockery naked with Mrs Vlad, we don't have drums, but we have a recording of some Gregorian Chants which sufficed last time, I must order some drums.

klondike

Careful with those drumsticks while naked  or it might be Gregorian chants again...

speaks a man who has been there....

In the process of degunging 40 plus years of accumulated bric a brac here at Vlad Villa I came across a cassette tape, remember them? of some Peruvian Pan Pipe music, to be honest I don't think they are Peruvian..more like Colombian , but hey hoy...it went into the bin along with numerous pint glasses that I have nicked over the years.

At least it might have been with Mrs. Vlad this year then?   We heard she went to Bingo last year, so you had to dance with Fiona from the ice cream van,  and you wore your man new Mankini.

Alex

My boring day included cleaning a metal fireplace with a toothbrush   Yep !
