A nice easy day today.
Overslept this morning,  but it was lovely.

Been fiddling about with my plants outside,  did a line of washing,  then my son and his wife turned up unexpectedly this afternoon,  so that was a nice surprise.

Then I have been out in the shed this evening, potting and repotting more young plants and cuttings.

Anyone else noticed how its getting dark quite a bit earlier already?

Bit early in the year to throw the towel in and claim "autumnal".  Think it's more to do with the early doors spells of heatwaves that's addling our brains.

Anyway, this evening Mrs Dex and I booked into a fairly localisj hotel due to daughter Dex having a friend over to go out with her and her (now ex, due to a promotion) work colleagues.  My daughter now works in a local M&S "head office" in HR.  Clever girl 😊. So proud of her👍😍

Naturally, her friend cancelled at the last minute 🙄, but we decided to come to the hotel anyway as it's close to Mrs Dex's church  which she'll attend tomorrow whilst I mill around Tesco and Aldi.

Your daylight times vary quicker and more up there than further south. Plus we've been getting more overcast skies the last few days - at least where I am anyway.

I have noticed the evenings beginning to get darker earlier..
I was watching the tv the other evening.. fell asleep during the program.. like one does..
When I awoke it was pitch black..  Time 9:30..
I dozed off at around 8:15... it was still light..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Wait a month - you'll really start to notice.

longest day here is 17 hours 46 minutes of daylight. Shortest is 6 hours 49 minutes. In June you can walk around at eleven o'clock at night. In a dull December day it's dark a bit after three

Finished reading Orbital yesterday.  A worthy winner of the booker prize.  Recommend it.

I remember taking my camper just as far north as Argyll in the summer and was amazed at the length of the daylight. I have been right up to John O'Groats but that was in the autumn and I never really noticed the difference then.
