Just been reading that people in parts of North Yorkshire have had leaflets put through their doors asking them to boil their drinking water.   Apparently it is full of bacteria and not safe to drink!

AND he was recommended by the fella who cuts my grass.
It's great when you can find reliable tradesmen via word of mouth.  We had a guy who built us steps, put up new fencing, installed our kitchen, laid the base for a new shed, and  lots of other stuff. We passed on his details to friends, he was always busy.  Then he retired.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Good morning all.

Sadly, I seem surrounded by bad news lately.
I have been to 3 funerals already this spring.

Another friend is dying of cancer as we speak.  I visited her yesterday and she has practically stopped eating and drinking now, so things don't look good.

Another friend popped in briefly this morning, then her phone rang, and she was told her Mother has just died in hosp

Sorry to be such a misery,  but it's horrible all these really bad things happening so close together.

However, its another lovely morning outside,  so I will spend the day fiddling about in the garden and listening to the birds sing.
I have some big plants to divide,  things to pot on, and the inevitable weeds to clear etc.
Being out in nature is always a good tonic.

They put us on meters around here a year or so back, Scrumpy.  We had no say in it.  We were just told they were coming to do it.
It doesn't make much difference to me,  we've still got to use it, and pay for it,  whether it is metered or not.

Michael Rolls

the idea that one will use less water if metered is absurd for any thinking person who use what is needed, no more, no less whether metered or not
Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

Depends what you pay. I suspect it is more than it would be on a meter. I had no choice as there was a meter here already and you can't go back.

Thank you so much Ruthio and Scrumps.
I felt so fed up, that I actually filled up when I saw your comments, silly old bugger aint I.

Do you know,  I've had a pig of a morning again.
My audiologist is concerned about how quickly my hearing is deteriorating,  and it's driving me nuts,  so he wrote to my GP for an urgent referral to ENT.  He stated 2 weeks.

But a letter from my GP came this morning, with one of those Choose & Book forms along with a choice of 3 hospitals - Bedford, Northampton, or Kettering.
This so-called 'Urgent' appointment turned into no chance of seeing anyone till Sept/Oct time at any of the hospitals.

I just phoned the Secretary of my GP surgery, and told her that these Choose & Book forms they sent me do not give any options for  Urgent appointments,  only routine ones.
She went through the letter they had sent me this morning,  and told me that it was all wrong and I should not have been sent it!!

This kind girl has now altered everything,  notified the local hospital for me to get me an urgent appointment,  and is sending me a new,  proper letter to confirm it now.

Thank goodness I phoned her,  otherwise I would still be waiting until next winter!

If only I drank,  I would probably get sloshed tonight!

I have a meter, you are not restricted you pay for what you use. We have a 4 bedroom house and our water bill was based on at least 6 people using water but when everyone moved out we went to a meter and saved a lot of money with just two of us

Vlad.. Perhaps I worded it wrongly.. When I said restricted I meant I felt that I would use too much water and go over the top.. Not being on a meter I felt that i could use what i want without thinking about it..
I hope I have made sense...

Good morning good people.

Off for the MRI on my lower back this morning.  Joys of joys, ey. I hate going into that tunnel.
Think I might go down Waitrose and treat myself to a bit of lunch when I come out, I like their toasted sandwiches.

See ya laters -  unless they deep fry me in the tunnel!

Good luck, Mups.  It's perfectly easy, just a little loud but absolutely not painful.
You don't have a pacemaker, I assume?
