For a change!  Youngest GD has gone on a school trip to the Peak District today, climbing Mam Tor I believe.  Not ideal weather for it!

I put on brushed cotton (flannelette) bedding this week, heavenly.  Off to the pool shortly, it was fffffffffreeezing on Wednesday. Good job I'm tough. 🥶
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Can't go fishing as the marina is flooded. Will be going clay shooting to a different ground which is quite a  bit bigger. Judging by the forecast it is going to be brass monkeys. They do nice unhealthy bacon burgers there though.

When places flood, does the fish population change?

Have still got some unripened tomatoes outside.  Should I leave them there or bring them in?

Me too, they will continue to ripen I have a slack handful in a bag with a banana, it helps them ripen, something to do with ethyl?

The marina is a large lake connected by a short passage to the River Nene. The Nene is in flood with very heavy flows which will certainly have a big effect on the river fish and those in the marina.

Back at the start of the season (16 June) the river had been in flood but was susbsiding and that was the day I caught my monster carp - on fairly light tackle as I was hoping for bream which made it fun. Never taken a carp from there before so the guess is that it had been flooded out from a carp lake nearby and made its way in from the river. The first couple of days the fishing was quite good but apart from pike there have been no sizeable fish there since. It won't improve the fishing but can hardly make it much worse as apart from the first two days it has been pretty dire. Camera shows myriads of small fish but catching those is tedious so it has mostly been pike fishing lately.
