Profile / Account Settings / Look and Layout

Once there uncheck the WYSIWYG editor by default option.
If you don't like the result then turn it back on.
You can do so here too of course if you miss the fun of editing them out.



Unfortunately there isn't a setting to fix the 522 errors.

Thanks - I must try that - I don't know why, but those tags irritate my out of all proportion to the minor effort required to edit them out - just my impatient nature, I suppose
