I'm in rant mood, so apologies in advance.
Energy companies are gleefully announcing record profits. Now, I wouldn't mind this if those profits had been achieved by improved services, increased customer satisfaction, novel and profitable, both to supplier and consumer, innovations.
But they aren't. They ride on the misery of the Ukrainian pkieople and many of their own customers forced to choose between heating and eating. I'm not sure what current government thinking is on a possible windfall tax, but needless to say the companies are falling over themselves to declare it 'anti-business'. Not to my mind. To my mind a windfall tax, passed on to consumers, is perfectly fair, nut I doubt that it will happen.
