what are U.K school children being taught today, ??

Back in the past going to what was then a secondary modern school, was the basics of education from math's, s to geometry , science, writing, reading, spelling,  sports and   what foods are  grown  around the world , and which countries did they come from ,

at that time many parents taught their children to tell the time 08.30 ( half past eight ) and so on,. of course these were the days before we switched over in the seventies to metric . liters, millimeters and centimeters,  and so our history of education changed as we changed many of our education methods to the European way of doing things,

so i todays modern world what are our children being taught as now the U.K has almost now systems of learning , and so the children who know metric would  have a job switching back to the old imperial method of pints ounces, and so on

why doesn't our education system come up with a simple way of educating our children as they like their predecessors
end up confused  have learned bits and pieces of two very different methods of being educated in English and European

is it any wonder why many children end up totally confused and know very little about the world that they live in ,
