This little creature arrived amidst a lot of excitement today. A baby he's an orphan and the local animal trust I support needed somewhere suitable for him to spend a short while in safety and with the company of other creatures. 'Fantasy' one of my two horses really took to him and Doris fancied racing him up and down in the paddock both of them babies they got really excited.

Tonight 'Chloe' (my 1st cousin removed) raced over to see him from College and she's moved both Fantasy and 'Oliver' as we've named him to the double stall in the stable block. The 'Three musketeers and D'Artagnan' looked in before we prepared for an evening of liquid refreshment. Our guest was fast asleep snuggled up to his new 'carer' but managed to lift his head and snort a little greeting to his admiring quartet.

Chloe's on one of the bunks in the stable tonight with her friend Suzy on top, just to ensure he's OK and more of their friends are turning up later to have a look in too. Doris is very excited about the whole event and is also ensconced on the bunk as a sort of sympathetic guard.

He's rather handsome I think?

I would be useless at fostering as I wouldn't want to let him/her go back. 👀 I used to help out with the Old English Sheepdog Rescue of Scotland and that's how I landed up with Daniel and Bentley. 😉 😂 2 Sheepies who had to be rehomed together.

I'm struggling with that right now! I went down in the night, as I saw the stable light was on and Chloe and her friend were feeding him just to make sure he's OK. The girls said he was whimpering around dawn, but as soon as they went in with him he stopped and fell asleep again, head in Chloe's lap and Doris licking his nose!

He's just 14 weeks old tomorrow and his mother rejected the poor little fellow. The couple who owned him have had an inconsolable break down and his former home was literally sold from under his little hooves. He's weaned, but still enjoys a bottle now and then. The Rescue centre is full at the moment, so Annie who's a volunteer helper there, suggested my place, until he's a little older for adoption.

Both Tillie and Bobo are smitten and he's getting loads of fuss, which he laps up by the way! He was out trotting up and down in the paddock with my two just now,  shaking his head vigorously as he raced Doris again and they've become fast friends already.

I'm sure he was laughing too!

Fourteen weeks Alex, I've never had much to do with little horse's, his eyes are so soulful and his legs are so funny when he trots around, sort of too big at the moment. What beautiful creatures they are. There's a crew of so called helpers turning up to feed, groom and 'walk' him. Annie's his official 'appropriate carer'.

So are we going to have a guess on a name for him ?

Cassandra

We're calling him Oliver or 'Ollie' which over here refers first reference to Oliver Hardy, rather than Charles Dicken's famous orphan!

As soon as he saw me on the electric golf caddy thingy I perambulate about on here, he whinnied and came galloping over to the paddock rails really excited - or was it the scent of polo's? Both probably, but he's super little chap. Trouble is I'll end up with an animal colony here, because I get so fond of creatures. Still as Annie says, you've got the room?

Cassandra... I can't think of anything nicer than a collection of animals...
They never let you down.. Always happy to see you.. Never judge you..
And good looks mean nothing to them....
