Quote from: Mups on November 15, 2024, 02:05:44 PMI wouldn't be at all surprised if more animal deaths occur because of fireworks than ever make the headlines.

When I was younger, I used to ride, and had an ageing pony.  He was a gentle, inoffensive old chap.
He was kept in a field with a few others,  next to Mum's house.
Each firework night it was always a worry because we'd been told there were  kids around trying to tie  fireworks to the  horses tails.    I'd heard the same about cats being caught for this reason too.
Luckily the animals I knew were all safe.

What's the matter with some people?  I will never understand why they feel the need to hurt other creatures.

Nor do I Mups it is totally incomprehensible to me .
My children love animals .
Where does cruelty come from ?
My parents were not particularly animal lovers we only had a rabbit and a Guinea pig as children .
Yet they were totally appalled by animal cruelty .

Animals in the Middle East are subject to horrendous cruelty .
All these useful idiots marching for the poor affected Gazans would not want to know how the majority treat their animals .
A country is judged on how it treats its animals .

The problem is the UK's agenda of what you can say & how they think you should think is being set by retards.

As regards animal cruelty, I managed to switch off ITV News tonight just before they were about to treat me to watching racehorses dying at Cheltenham I think it was.

Somebody famous said that, didn't they Muddy?

Was it Gandhi,  or Delai Lama?    I'm not sure now,  but I remember reading it once, a long time ago.

I know what you mean, Diasi.   Same usually happens at the Grand National every year.
They  die just for human greed.

Horse racing is so cruel, they try to kid us saying the horses enjoy it - have they asked them ?

Once drove down a back road by Aintree and the size of one of the jumps close up was frightening.  This was a few years ago and I know some alterations have been made, but horses are still dying and for what !

It's at times like this that I always ask myself "what would the European Boxwood and Topiary Society do?"

Sadly  three horses dies at the last day of the Cheltenham November fixture .
One dropped dead minutes after winning its race .
It is cruel they live an unnatural life so young and there is huge 'wastage ' ie horses that don't show promise or break down . These end up as dog meat .
Very few make it as riding horses or other equine careers  because many are physically damaged .
They are also uneducated ( they are just trained enough to accept a jockey and run)

And like I said earlier,  all simply for man's greed and love of money.
