Police afraid to arrest non-white criminals

If you keep track of the cases you'll see that they may be confident but far from capable. There are more innocents killed by those using handguns than their intended targets. I've never owned or even fired a handgun but Mike used to perhaps he'll comment on how much practice it takes to become competent. I'll guarantee it's more than just a few shots and the criminals can hardly use a range to practice plus I suspect that the ammunition doesn't come cheap to them either.

At point blank range you don't need much practice.

Yes, guns seem to be the purview for criminals and police.
Never mind.  I have two longbows (which I made myself) and a few arrows.
Still, I suppose I'll look a picture walking into the bank with them.

Absolutely right..
A villain with a gun doesn't need target practice.. They will fire indiscriminately.. They get their target in the end..

People don't care about rules anymore.. If they want to buy a knife/ gun/ bomb or whatever.. they will do so.. Everything is available on the internet..
And .. sadly.. there is little respect for Laws or the Police..
.. anyway.. You never see a policeman..
The police only become apparent when someone (Important) is being threatened or shouted out..

We can be burgled... have our cars taken.. and our stores robbed and the police will not attend ..
As Alan Bates once said..  'We are the little people'
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

You do if you are law abiding and don't want collateral or personal damage.

Plus if you are really close make damned sure that the bad guy doesn't just snatch your weapon away and use it on you.

I was a target shooter with rifle and pistol for several years until rising mortgage rates made the hobby too expensive for me. My pistol was a Smith and Wesson revolver with customized sights and a six inch barrel. With that, after a about a year I could put every shot into a group of about 4" across at 20 yards, 10" at 50 yards and 3 shots in five at 100 yards in a group about 12" across. This hobby preceded being married and the range was about 15 minutes walk down the road (didn't have a car) I'd be there each Saturday and Sunday, and in the summer an occasional evening as well.
Fired literally thousands of rounds on ammunition. The pistol(and the rifle) were 0.22 calibre. Practice makes perfect - but then I had already qualified in the RAF with the Number 4 rifle and Bren gun so wasn't a total beginner.
Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

I, too, used to practise .22 rifle shooting.  This was in a 25 yard range and could get every shot into the centre (perhaps 2" diameter) of the target.  Of course, rifles can be more accurate than handguns.

I remember at the time (1970s) I could keep my rifle in my own home, in a wooden cupboard with a padlock.  The police had had a look at the location and they decided it was perfectly acceptable.  I'm sure that had that been today there is no way I would have got away with something so easy to break into!

Of course in today's UK any attempt at using self-defence by firing a projectile will mean some serious jail time, even if the alternative is to be badly injured or killed oneself.

I agree.  The impression I get is that the police today prefer to take the easy option and charge innocent people rather than bother to defend us from the dangerous criminals here.
