I suppose that you thought that after Brexit you are able to control who enters your country, but reality is with all these wars and crisis the number of migrants will constantly grow and no one can prevent people for looking for a better life.
In 1946 my family came as refugees to Germany, we got little support - not possible due to the huge number of refugees at that time. We got a room in a house in a hamlet on top of a mountain, my mother helped the farmers and my father found a job in a quarry. True, we didn't come voluntarily to Germany. However, despite of this life was better for us there than living on the street in our motherland.
Probably this applies also to many of the migrants today. I don't know, I am no expert, but when I watch the news on TV I notice that there are much too many wars and crisis around the world.

What pixxes me off is these young men pass through so many safe countries to get here and NO, the majority do not speak English.

I think the most stupid thing I have done is running (with others) across the road from one pub to another.
I was knocked down by a car, fortunately without injury as he stopped quickly.  I suppose that in my drunken state I was pretty loose and limp and easily absorbed the impact.
Of course, that would have been about fifty years ago now, and I am no longer able to absorb such things.

They are making a profit on it on average. What you pay any insurance for is the fear of unaffordable costs which a few will indeed suffer.

Quote from: Mups on Today at 09:23:56 AMI wonder why teenagers usually get off more lightly than adults?
Think back to the doubtless stupid things you may have done back in the day. Teenagers are awash with hormones that can  make them stupid. Setting fire to somewhere really is stupid but I doubt it occurred to any of them that it would amount to more than a bit of smoke setting off the alarms. These of course could equally be evil little sods. There will be psych reports and their punishment is going to depend on those. I doubt it will be lenient though as the cost of their stupidity will run to millions. Job losses too I reckon for sure. I know somebody who's son works there so I will hear about that for sure. He wasn't working the Saturday though.

The vet we used to use, just a couple of streets away, is in a nice, large, posh new building and charges the earth!
We have now moved to another vet about two miles away, in an old terrace-type building and much smaller.  He is a good, competent, down to earth bloke and is much more reasonable in prices.

Indeed.  The sport of mowing innocent people down is becoming almost a national pastime here.
How long before it is adopted by the Olympic games?

I'd hazard a guess that you and your family have been an asset to Germany, and I welcome foreigners who come to my country with something to offer: either skills or hard work.
Please be in no doubt, the majority of the illegal immigrants to our country are not coming here to offer something of benefit to us; they are coming here for the many benefits they receive from us.

The French assist them rather than trying to contain them, which is exactly what we pay them £millions for.  Of course, they don't want them and if there is a weak and soft nation which assists in collecting as many as they can once they have set sail, then that is to their benefit.  The French have never been our friends, other than in two world wars when we gave our lives to help them.  This, I assume, is our reward!
