Ooh,  I used to like Andy Williams.

'Can't get used to losing you',  and 'Where do I begin'  etc.
You never got those oldies appearing on stage like they'd been boozing (or worse), all night long.

I've said it many times,  but I still adore Neil Diamond too.  A gentle sort of man, who wrote songs with meaningful words that often told a story.

Elton John wrote a lot of good songs too.  I remember him singing Candle in the Wind at Diana's funeral.

Not like a lot of the yelling and shouting big gobbed lot nowadays,  or the women flashing their drawers and  their boobs barely covered!  Like that one on at Glastonbury who flashed her bum to show the world she had TWO pairs of G.strings on.  So what?    Who cares?

True,  and most of them know it, too.

That law won't make a scrap of difference to the nutters who really hurt their kids,  but it will  give kids the ammo to do what they want.

The Policemen used to give a kid a clip round the ear once,  so did the school teachers,  let alone parents.
My Dad would make us hold out hands out and he would slap them  (not very often though).   Or we used to get kept in after school on 'detention'  or made to do litter picking in the playground if we were naughty.

Is even that still allowed nowadays,  I wonder?

I think it is so sad.   Only JBR has seen some frogs and their spawn this year.  Good on yer, JB.
I bet most grandchildren have never seen a one at all, nor a Newt.

In fact if it hasn't got a keyboard or things to press and click,  they probably wouldn't be interested anyway.   Are  there any interested in nature these days?

How times change ey.  It makes me feel very old.

Quote from: JBR on June 29, 2025, 11:48:59 AMIn short, I believe that many of our problems stem from this soft approach to misbehaving children.

You've got that right, when I'm down in Perth I often see wee brats throwing a hissy fit if they don't get their own way. I sometimes feel my hand itching to give him/her a good slap round the legs, so do a lot of other people judging by their faces.  :yell:
