Depends how far you go back. There was a lot of fiddling done with tapes and mixing desks. The days of scratching it all on a master in one take preceded most of the stuff I recall from my youth. There was fully electronic music by the 70s and effects pedals on guitars earlier still.

Which is what I suggested. There are lots of options as well as a firestorm depending on what services are wanted. Firetrucks will be cheap soon as the Amazon Prime sale starts on the 8th I think.

Quote from: Raven on Yesterday at 06:11:43 PMI remember when Cecil was killed, A long time ago I was in the park with my 2 Old English Sheepdogs it was starting to get dark and I heard this awful racket coming from the pond, I started running as I knew it was nothing good. It was a couple of boys about 12 years old had somehow gotten hold of a swan and were hurting it, I dived straight in and went for the one doing the hurting, yanked him off and shoved him in the pond all the while the dogs stayed between me and the other lad, Bentley was growling like hell, a man came up and gave the brats a hell of a lecture, seems he knew them and I suspect he told their folks.
Would I do it now, I'm not as able as I was but my hiking cane would get a good few swipes in.
Well done Raven.   :upvote:

Quote from: JBR on Yesterday at 09:42:33 PMThis disgusts me.
It seems to be badly brought-up kids, and adults who were also badly brought-up as kids.

What a country we live in.  Somehow, I can't imagine the people of some other countries, India for example, who would behave like that.

As you will have gathered,  it disgusts me too, JB.

It is beyond my comprehension.

Quote from: GrannyMac on Yesterday at 07:07:41 PMMups, Sainsbury's, Asda, Bon Marche are where I've bought mine from.  They aren't expensive from supermarkets.  There are non swimmers at our classes, the water only needs to be chest deep.  The majority are retired people. I'd try it.

Yesterday at 07:08:46 PMMade me smile.  😊 Pole dancing tomorrow? 😉
Thanks Mac,  and Raven.
I would never have thought of Supermarkets selling them,  perhaps because I have my groceries delivered each week.  It started in the Covid days, and I kinda got used to it I suppose.
I could have a nose around next time I call in for a lunchtime coffee.

(Just don't expect a picture though).

In those days a record was just that. The musicians had to perform it and it was recorded how they played it. None of this computer enhancement. they didn't have a computer.

General Discussion / Re: Fire affecting Heathrow
Last post by Ashy - Yesterday at 09:52:35 PM
I forgot to mention that the fire occurred in March 2025, and the repercussions were that Heathrow remained closed for 28 hours and flights were held back all around the world. Some 9,000 consumers were also disconnected for several hours.

Quote from: Alex on Yesterday at 04:26:44 PMThanks guys, a lot of this technology goes over my head and as I'm only 5' 2" it's easily done.
Do you have internet in your home?
You might like to think about a Fire Stick, available from Amazon for £25 or so.  You should check whether you have an appropriate socket at the back of your telly and that it is compatible.
You could then forget about messing about with your aerial.  You could also end up with umpteen TV channels, though some of them you'd need to pay for.
