He typified the Aussie word 'Larrikin'. Hugely talented, he reinvented the fine art of spin bowling when the world was tired of West Indian pacemen. And he did it bowling the dubious leg spinner, most difficult to bowl and play.


Sledging was the word you were looking for and he had a sharp wit.

A short piece I heard on radio news said he was on an extreme diet (they said liquid diet but I don't think they meant boozing)  and there was some speculation that the diet may have been implicated somehow.
