It seems what with covid as this never ending virus is forcing many businesses to encourage  workers to work from home on their computers and laptops  could this be a permanent thing .

as for companies they could save on renting . buying , an office block and the over heads of electric, water. and rates to simply house the employees,
the amount of money saved by these people could make is very lucrative and cost effective thing to do.

from the employees point of view they too could save on time, better still the never increasing bus, and train fares, plus not having to go   out in all weathers makes it an attractive proposition, and of course working from home, means a person wont have to worry for getting to the office late due to transport cancellations,

Q;  what are your views for people working from home .and will you share your thoughts with us,.

when it is a question of danger to health - understandable. Otherwise, I don't like it as a concept. Obviously it will vary from person to person, place to place, but human interaction is an important part of may working environments. The casual passing of experience would, in many instances, be lost.
There are also knock-on effects on those services which rely upon the influx/outflow of people - restaurants, cafes, pubs, casual shops, etc.
And never forget how difficult, or even impossible,  it would be for many folk to work from home - shop assistants, dustmen, delivery drivers, health care staff and so on

GP's are working from home, so their ability to diagnose without being in the same room as  the patient is under question.  Everyone is going to A&E.
The problem with being retired is that you never get a day off

Absolutely.. Office building will disappear in time.. The words 'Rush Hour' will never be heard.. Everything will be ordered on line..
So called Pubs will be called 'Places to meet' and will have people on a face to face thingy.. where you can all chat or not.. provide your own beer and entertainment..
This will apply to lunch/ dinner etc... Sit around your kitchen table and talk to others that are doing the same..
A 'Blind' date will have people sitting in eye masks and choose partners by voice only..
They will then go on to meet.. online.. face to face.. and if they fall in love must go on the waiting list to make babies.. At a centre called 'One Go Only'..
That will cut back on too many children..!!
Time to write another book..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Geez Scrumpy you've got some imagination there
Some people like working from home, cuppa whenever you want !  My DIL works from home most of the time, but my grand-dogs like to get in on the action when she's having a 'meeting' on line.  She misses the banter though.

Online working from home is the sensible way forward for office-based functions.

At the presant time I'm beta-testing tax software ready for the new tax year in April, but I don't traipse down to wherever they're based, it's all done online.

the big timers today are software engineers who can certainly work from home with the occassional office visit to test...

You can test from home too...

It's the hardware guys who need to be there at least some of the time.

Indeed, when I do my son's accounts I use Team Viewer to install the relevent tax software onto his laptop & to copy all his accounts to him.

I also use Team Viewer to do remote Macrium Reflect system images for him.

Like Alex's, my daughter in law has worked mainly from home since well before Covid.  Only has to go in to her nearest office occasionally, and further afield even less. She loves it!  My son has worked at home since lockdown, I think he'd prefer more of a mix.  Luckily they have space at home to work separately.
