Spoke to Alex this morning.. She tripped over the lead from a table lamp .. She was changing the bulb..
Much bruising.. She said 'Northerners are strong folk'..

What about Southerners !!!  We are not wimps...
When we fall, we fall from great heights.. not at floor level changing a lamp bulb..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Poor Alex I hope she's alright.
Last time I fell I smashed up my leg and was in hospital for 3 weeks, remember? I don't think I'm a wimp......Just unlucky. :busted:

Ooooh.  Nasty, Rox😳

Falls can be very bad news as we get older. Probably worse for women who are more prone to osteoporosis I think. One of my wife's grandmothers ended up in nursing home because of one.

Good heavens!  That's going to take some fixing.  They'd have to open you up and do a lot of joining those pieces of bone to that metal joint.  I'd say rather longer that three weeks before that lot re-unites permanently.
I assume all is OK now, hopefully.  Good luck, and be careful.

Yes.  When Marge fell recently, only a short distance, she smashed up her left wrist.  That required an open operation, including a metal plate to join the end(s) of her radius.  She is still unable to move her wrist (she's left-handed) to anything like the extents of her right wrist, but progress is being made.
She has since been confirmed as having osteoporosis, so she's going to have to take much more care generally.  She now walks about completely covered in foam rubber!

Yep it was nasty, and bloody sore. This pic is of how the surgeon fixed it, the bar is ten inches in length then there's the screws. I am so lucky I still have that leg because if what they did hadn't worked.....WELL.
It took months to heal and it's left me with a bit of a limp, and my balance is not good now. But I carry on the best I can and it's mostly as normal as it was before the fall. (Bloody black ice)  I was given a bone scan when I was in the hospital and yes, I had brittle bone disease, been on strengthening pills ever since, to be reviewed after five years.

Yes, that looks better.  The femur seems to have broken into only two or possibly three pieces, now being joined by a long plate.
Marge's radius was smashed into several pieces and joined similarly, but with a plate perhaps half of that length.  No metal joint needed, though.  She is also osteoporotic and now takes additional medication to try to help it.
Actually, both Marge and I were radiographers and found the X-rays very informative.  Having done similar X-rays on patients, we both found the images shown to us by the surgeon very interesting and so much more so when they are of your own body!  Her plate will remain for life, of course, as I suspect will yours.  Good luck with it!
