The opposite of the 'What are you good at' thread -  is there anything you have never been able to do?

Right from my school days, I have always been worse than useless at History,  Geography,  and finding my way anywhere.    Honestly,  I could get lost in Tesco's car park without even trying!

And all these foreign countries people talk about where there is fighting going on,  or exotic places they've been for their holidays etc,   I don't usually have a clue whereabouts they are.    I have even got one of those little 'globes'  at home,  like we used to have a school,  to see where countries are.  How sad is that!

As for history,  I don't know, without looking it up,  when historical big battles happened, or which King was married to who  etc.
Do they even still teach these things in schools nowadays?   It will hardly help them cope with adult life later on, will it!   :hmm:

History I love but Scottish History not the stuff they taught in School.

Geography I'm not good at, but I'm a home bird. I know most of the Hebridean Isles quite well and the northern ones.

I'm useless at sewing and ironing, both I loathe and have zero interest in. I can't read a map to save myself so Google earth was my friend for a long time.

I'm quite a loner most of the time, so people who don't really know me seen to think I'm either rude or weird.

Foreign languages.. absolutely dire at!!

History was "taught" to us by the provision of the teacher sitting down and dictating with us writing in silence.  How invigorating and engaging 🙄🤬🤬

I developed a liking for history in my 30s.  But not walking round museums reading about old artifacts.  Dull, dull, dull.  I did that with my daughter on our recent trip to Berlin.  The cunning buggers charged us to go in, so we felt duty bound to spend more time than normal in there to get our money's worth.

Sums.. anything to do with numbers..
I bought a piano.. it sits alone .. I can not play it.. I have tried.
Reversing the motor..
I am a giggler.. I try hard to stop.. but when I start.. I can't.
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I can't do maths, either.   I'm good at remembering numbers, but not names.  I'm useless at sewing, knitting and ironing.

Maths
I could just about manage algebra ok but geometry was a total mystery to me .
As for those dreadful problems when someone on a bike meets a train going  the other way at x miles per hour ...arghhh .
We had this horrible book full of logarithms .
It could have been hieroglyphics for all I understood them !
I was pretty good at everything else at school .

Now I am useless at technology .
I just can't do it .

I can't do 'maths' either, ie algebra and geometry, but I love numbers! I won the arithmetic prize for the whole school when I was 15. I did some book keeping qualifications at college, and worked with statistics and performance measurements in a couple of my jobs.

I'm handless when it comes to DIY, decorating etc. I could get paint everywhere but where it should be. I could never have won a Blue Peter Badge.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖
