Why do some people have a lot of cushions on the bed.?

What does  'So, so' mean . When asking someone a simple question like 'How are you.?' Or ' How is your drink'..
Don't they know.?
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Alex

The cushions thing is a bit OTT for me, they only get thrown on the floor when it's bedtime.
So So is not something I use, if I'm asked how I am, I say OK or pissed off !

I absolutely hate them .

We have two pillows one each and one each of those square ones that you can use to sit up in bed .

Mups

I'm not one for cushions all over the bed either.
You always see it in magazines pictures,  but it's just more clutter to me.
As Alex said,  you'd only have to chuck 'em on the floor at bedtime.

Don't think I've ever said "so so"  either.

Dextrous63

Well, I might say so so when I want a double G 🎵

Agree about cushions.

Ashy

"So-so" is something I haven't heard since I was at infants school. It means somewhere in between. In answer to "How is your health?" it saves you saying "I am approximately at the intersection between improvement from my last accident and deterioration due to old age.".

Dextrous63

On the whole, I don't think people need to ask how one is, since they are usually told whether they want to know or not, and health becomes a good conversation piece.

It's just a standard greeting. Getting a full report is probably not really wanted. In the middle of a conversation or as a question following some comment it's your own fault if you do get one.

Why do people say 'That suits you'. When you know damn well it does not. ?
And
Why do people say  'I'll be here tomorrow around 8:30' and don't bother to turn up  ?

Personally,  I think it's wrong to tell someone that something suits them if they really look awful in it.
There are ways of being truthful without being hurtful, surely.

Coincidentally, I have just congratulated Marge on her new hairdo.
She seemed to be very happy. 🤣

She did try once several days ago, Dex, but she's still not too happy.
Having said that, she has just told me that she will drive tomorrow to take one of her larger paintings to a location near Altrincham which has offered to display it, hopefully to sell it.  She already has several smaller ones in a local cafe, who have offerred to sell them (with a 20% charge).
Like most artists, she cannot expect to become famous and sell pictures for £millions until many years after her death!  She does produce some nice pieces, though, her recent products have a textured finish which does look very attractive, though in order to show that they cannot be put behind glass.
Sorry!  Just trying to encourage customers!

She doing that thing at Stoller Hall this year?  I might try to actually make it there.
