Why do some people have a lot of cushions on the bed.?

What does  'So, so' mean . When asking someone a simple question like 'How are you.?' Or ' How is your drink'..
Don't they know.?
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Alex

The cushions thing is a bit OTT for me, they only get thrown on the floor when it's bedtime.
So So is not something I use, if I'm asked how I am, I say OK or pissed off !

I absolutely hate them .

We have two pillows one each and one each of those square ones that you can use to sit up in bed .

I'm not one for cushions all over the bed either.
You always see it in magazines pictures,  but it's just more clutter to me.
As Alex said,  you'd only have to chuck 'em on the floor at bedtime.

Don't think I've ever said "so so"  either.

Dextrous63

Well, I might say so so when I want a double G 🎵

Agree about cushions.

Ashy

"So-so" is something I haven't heard since I was at infants school. It means somewhere in between. In answer to "How is your health?" it saves you saying "I am approximately at the intersection between improvement from my last accident and deterioration due to old age.".

Dextrous63

On the whole, I don't think people need to ask how one is, since they are usually told whether they want to know or not, and health becomes a good conversation piece.

It's just a standard greeting. Getting a full report is probably not really wanted. In the middle of a conversation or as a question following some comment it's your own fault if you do get one.

Why do people say 'That suits you'. When you know damn well it does not. ?
And
Why do people say  'I'll be here tomorrow around 8:30' and don't bother to turn up  ?
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Personally,  I think it's wrong to tell someone that something suits them if they really look awful in it.
There are ways of being truthful without being hurtful, surely.
