Why do some people have a lot of cushions on the bed.?

What does  'So, so' mean . When asking someone a simple question like 'How are you.?' Or ' How is your drink'..
Don't they know.?

The cushions thing is a bit OTT for me, they only get thrown on the floor when it's bedtime.
So So is not something I use, if I'm asked how I am, I say OK or pissed off !

I absolutely hate them .

We have two pillows one each and one each of those square ones that you can use to sit up in bed .

I'm not one for cushions all over the bed either.
You always see it in magazines pictures,  but it's just more clutter to me.
As Alex said,  you'd only have to chuck 'em on the floor at bedtime.

Don't think I've ever said "so so"  either.
