Scrumpy

So many animals died.. They deserve recognition..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

crabbyob

they certainly do Scrumps, but for it to mean anything they should have their own day.. when i started my mining career 90% of my training was horse related, tho i never did much 'horse' work, those horses were loved and cared for, then their version of WOKE ladies started to petition to have them removed from the mines, and yes I understand the 'why' but... where are those horses? were they taken out of the mines and released into meadows with grass up to their bellies?... erm perhaps several were.. but on the whole they were sold to places like Belgium where they were butchered... just consider in the early fifties 90% of our deliveries came to our doors delivered by horse and cart, every town had  Farriers [blacksmiths who shoed the horses]  the breadman the fruit and veg all used horses. i wonder what the UK population of horses was in the early fifties, compared to today.. yes the war horses were not given a choice, but neither were most of the men....poppy-day is for our ancestors who died so we could live....
