Sleeping

Scrumpy and Mups mentioned sleeping on the 'boring' thread so I thought I'd start another thread here.

There doesn't seem to be a pattern to this poor sleep does there ? I can be on the go all day so really tired and I still can't drop off and when I do, I wake up at 3am, 4am and it's not always to go to the loo.   I cope on about 5 hours of broken sleep, which is better than Maggie !  Anyone have a pattern ?

I get to sleep easily, usually around 11pm.  I get up for the loo once or twice and get back to sleep unless the second time is after 5am then I'm awake.  I'm usually awake by 6 anyway.  All the time in the world and I can't sleep late. Dozing off in the afternoon is not unheard of 😴
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I snuggle down.. Brilliant.. I close my eyes.. but they are wide open on the (flip side)..
I turn over.. I adjust my pillows.. nod off for a couple of hours..
I turn over.. I adjust my pillows.. nod of for a couple of hours..
I make a cup of tea between 5/6.. Watch the news in bed..
I then snuggle down again.. but keep thinking of my breakfast and things I need to do..
So .. I get up..  Yawning..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

It's no annoying when you can't sleep, isn't it.
Once I do drop off,  I will usually sleep until morning (other than the loo),   but it's the initial dropping off that eludes me.
My back pain is one problem because I can't get always comfortable.   Also,  thinking about what I will do the next day is another.

I have never had a telly in my bedroom,  because anything 'stimulating' would probably stay on my mind for a while.   Guns and murders -  like 99% of American films are -  or certainly anything scary and creepy is a big No no, too.

Reading something nice in bed is something I've always done,  and I usually read until my eyes start drooping,  then I turn off the light and lie down.   Sometimes I drift off quickly,  but other nights I can still be awake a couple of hours later,  and that is really annoying.   Then come morning I feel like I could sleep for a week!

I sleep erratically.  Sometimes I go to bed at 9, nap for an hour or two then watch stuff on YouTube, or read, or do the crossword once it goes "live" after midnight.

Then I might get another hour or so before our elderly cat wakes me up and I have to walk downstairs to stir or refresh his food and I go back to bed.  A couple of hours later, he wakes me again as he wants to go out through the front door (he's gone off the idea of using the catflap at the back), at which time my younger cat decides he wants feeding.

After another hour or so of dozing, my elderly cat, who has been let back in by Mrs Dex via the kitchen door decides it's time for me to get up, for no particular reason.

Thus I doze on and off throughout the day with little power naps.

I tend to just doze and nod off reading my kindle ... when I wake up I carry on reading. I rarely sleep longer than an hours stretch at a time.
I can't nap in the day , if I do I'm like a zombie for ages after.

I actually quite like just sitting in the dark, enjoying the stillness and quietness at around 3 AM.

The above replies are so interesting..
I was thinking that I was having poor sleep time..
It seems that I am not too bad for sleeping..
