In today's paper apparently some people reported seeing him doing a strange sort of  'War dance'   before he climbed the fence.   They said it looked like he was   "psyching himself up."

I wonder if this is yet another failure of care in the comunity?

Ashy

I think we ought to rethink care in the community for all our sakes. We've had this experiment running for long enough, It's been a failure.

morty

It does sound more and more like he needed some kind of supervision .... today it reports that a woman with her two kids tried to stop him climbing over into the enclosure.
Where were his carers? Surely he wasn't alone.

Mups

Do we know for sure he was mentally ill yet?   I have not actually seen that confirmed, only speculated?

It could well have been mental illness,  true,  as well as drink,  or drugs or even depression for all we know  yet?

Apparently he was using Makaton hand signals.  Witnesses who heard and saw him seemed convinced he was autistic.  But maybe we'll not know for a while (if ever) as his family has asked that he isn't named.

More details have been released now,  including who the chap was. He was 22 yrs old.

The article also said he had been a child actor in a couple of things,  and was a University Graduate.
If that is true,  I don't see how he could have been autistic?
He was visiting the zoo with his 21 yrs old partner..

He spoke ok asking someone to take a photo of him with the tiger in the background and thanking her .( before he scaled the fence )
Who will ever know what went through his mind ?

High functioning.  Autism is a very wide spectrum.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Newton is thought to have had Asperger's and I think he might have managed a degree.

Dextrous63

Newton probably wrote the degree!

As for Mr Chapman, no doubt things may come out which give some kind of explanation.

Whatever he suffered with it certainly wasn't the act of a sane person..

I think most of us are on the spectrum in one way or another .

I've just (accidentally) seen some of the original footage which Trump has allegedly put up on his TikTok account, and an AI generated variation.

I was freaked out by the thought of the event, but having seen some of it I'm crying.  Horrible, horrible, horrible.  The poor fella.  The poor family. 😢😢

What sort of twat would put the video in the public domain, what sort of numbnut would make a parody of Trump winning against, and hugging the tiger, and what sort of human being in high office would post it on his own account for self aggrandisement??

Mups

I heard that about Trump doing that on the news tonight, Dex.
Unbelievable.
