People might not agree with Danny Tommo and some may think his actions were completely uncalled for but why is bail being refused over a charge of criminal damage?  Is this really proportionate?
If there are concerns about risk, surely strict bail conditions could be imposed curfew, electronic monitoring, reporting requirements or restrictions rather than keeping someone on remand until a trial provisionally listed for March 2027.
He has not been convicted of anything.
So what exactly makes this charge serious enough to justify keeping him in custody for months?

That, and a warning to anyone else that such behaviour (ie protecting one's mother country) will be frowned on and dealt with harshly.

One should be wary who one uses as an advocate for one's argument.  After all, Mr O'Reilly also used this little line at a gig:

During the performance at London Scala, O'Reilly said of a female audience member: "She's gagging for a rape."

Legally you cannot charge people with criminal damage unless you are the owner of the property .
So do the police know who owns this dingy employed in illegal people trafficking ?
There are other issues ...

Was the craft outside the 12 mile UK crown waters ? Was it registered? Was it insured? Did the owner have a licence to operate a boat ? Did the owner register the operation for the craft to the UK coast guard? Did the owner operator have the required radio and radar equipment? Was the craft registered for carrying passengers and have a public liability certificate? Was the passenger list presented to the UK immigration and customs agency 40 mins as required by the UK authorities, before the vessel enters the UK border ?

This is an affront to justice and to the British people generally .
By their own government .
Burnhams "racist" comment on TV was also completely out of order and amounts to contempt of court .
