A plane traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv has been the target of a terroist attack .
The co pilot stabbed the Captain
Passengers broke into the cock pit and over powered the attacker .h
Luckily two other passengers were actually pilots and they rushed in to get control of the plane which fell some 20,000 ft in the struggle .
The terror of that drop and the reactions and bravery of the passengers was amazing .
Good job the Israelis are used to terrorists .

I've just been reading about that attack Muddy schicksal that trained pilots were on board.

Also saw a clip of an Easyjet flight disturbance over UK, with a fella shouting Allahu Akbar and threating to blow up the plane.  He was downed by a well built Brit and assisted by another Brit.   Mental health issues of course.

Not really confirmed yet as a terrorist attack.  The Israeli Minister hasn't given details of his source.

There were a lot of heros on that flight .
Not only were all the passengers saved but had the plane crashed into Tel Aviv even more lives would have been lost .

Aghhh just seen that easyJet clip !

The world of yesterday's make believe is now today's reality...

I hope the well built Brit who brought down the guy shouting 'Allahu Akbar' Isn't done for assault..

That's a good point Scrumps, today's policing seems to favour the perp (as they say in NCIS  ) and not the victim.

No joke.  I have heard about such things more than once lately.  I suspect that one possible cause is that our police these days are not properly trained and, consequently, are sometimes not sure of the appropriate actions.  You see such things on the telly, where certain people actively go around with a camera intending to attract police attention, with the one cause of inducing them to look like fools.  It actually worries me sometimes.

My total admiration for the brave Pilot and courageous passengers on that terrifying  flight .
How they did all this while the plane was in catastrophic free fall is just awe inspiring .

Thank goodness a tragedy was averted and a great many innocent Israeli lives were saved, along with other nationalities onboard.. You do have to admire their courage.
Some of those pictures in the Mail are pretty shocking and uncensored. Looks like it was a bit of a bloodbath.
Sadly, this is only to be expected now Israel is in the limelight for their continuing activities in Gaza and the West Bank.

I'm sure with Israel's General Elections in a matter of weeks the security and safekeeping of Israel will be high, if not foremost, on the agenda ... favouring a hardliner like Netanyahu who otherwise was suffering a loss of support, his political career in some doubt, with the voting populace pretty much divided. Some wanting change. Some not.

No heroic act will go unpunished, except that the Israeli government is dealing with this and not our shower.

I was under the impression that after 9/11 all passenger aircraft cockpits were secure from the inside and that passengers could not gain access.

I could be wrong but didn't the  stabbed captain came out of the cockpit looking for help, opening the door himself ?
He was damned lucky to get away in one piece.
I gather he's still in a serious condition.

Dextrous63

Yes.  He managed to open the door and call for help.

I also read that a colleague of the nutter said that he (the nutter) was a bit of a nutter who prayed a lot and ignored women.  Not sure how true any of that it, other than him having some kind of mental health issue arise in a rather worrying manner, largely because airline  companies keep a close check on the wellbeing of their staff in terms of health, training, psych evaluations and excessive religious views not only for their member of staff's (or indeed passengers') benefit but also their company's.  Plus, of course, planes aren't exactly cheap to buy/contract hire.

Then the pilot's the hero of the hour, month, year.
They were very lucky to have a couple of pilots on board as passengers else it could still have been a horrendous disaster.
