British tourist's Auschwitz cafe complaint leaves a sour taste

The Auschwitz memorial serves as a reminder of the depths of human depravity and commemorates more than a million Jewish people who were exterminated by the Nazis during the Holocaust.

Yet for one British family visiting the former concentration camp, there were more pressing concerns: the prices at the nearby café.

A tourist named Lynne, who posts on TikTok under the name FreeSpirit666, has drawn widespread ire for a video in which she criticised the prices at a coffee shop and accused the memorial of being a "money-making scheme".

"Here's a tip if you're going to Auschwitz," she told followers in a video captioned "Prices of Auschwitz", adding: "Take a drink with you. I got a strawberry smoothie which tasted very watered down."[/size]

In the video, which has been viewed four million times since being posted last week, Lynne also took issue with the café's lack of alternative milks, saying: "We fancied a coffee because we were early but they don't do decaf or any milk other than real milk – so we gave that a miss."
Her daughter Kerry then complains that her lemonade tasted like toilet cleaner. "They cost £9 for both of them. Very expensive," Lynne added: "When you come to Auschwitz, bring some food and drink. Although, you do get frisked at the door."

Starbucks and Costa charge a fair old price for their foods and drinks.. as do many more coffee shops..

Makes you wonder if that's all she remembers about Auschwitz ! the story had made the German papers too, what an idiot !

The poor thing probably thought that it was a theme park like Alton Towers.... the cattle wagon ride at Birkenau must have been a real let down. 🙄
