Saving Sessions

I'm with Octopus and keep getting invites to join "Saving Sessions" usually an hour between 6pm and 7pm where I can get a small reward for using less than normal electricity over that hour.

As with my system and tariff the only time I use grid energy betweeb 2am and 5am with the rest covered by solar or the battery I can't use less than none but I join anyway to see whyat their system makes of it.

I'm guessing others on Octopus get these emails too. What bothers me is that the system is in place at all. The grid must be getting worried and it isn't even winter yet.

Yep, we get those too.  Not really sure why they bother as we only ever use what energy we need anyway.

Reminds me... must check I'm up to date with my octospins😉

Alex

I'm with Scottish Power and get reduced rates on Sunday and Saturday when I get to choose the hours.  I don't think it makes a lot of difference to my bill, but the few coppers are better in my pocket than theirs.

Mups

I'm with Octopus too,  I paid them today actually,   but I don't recall seeing anything about any 'saving sessions'?
Perhaps I'd better take more notice.   :hmm:

Do you not get emails Mups?
I guess you don't use the phone app.

No,  I don't use a phone app,  Dex.

In fact,  I only use my phone for calls, and texts, and sometimes to take a photo,  and that's about it.
I also always try not to give companies my mobile number,  as my mobile is for me and my friends,  not for big companies to pester me.

Dextrous63

Thought so.  Fair enough.
If you're not tech savvy, then probably wisest not to get embroiled with it.

I watch YouTube clips of scambaiting, and a lot of people get scammed because they don't really have enough knowledge to know when someone is sending and talking a whole load of old tosh.

I'm with them and I never get those either.

It requires a smart meter. Maybe you don't have them.

I have a smart meter.
I thought everyone did these days.

In that case I don't know why you don't get the invites. Maybe you opted out of emails or maybe I opted in. They started running maybe three years  back but seem much more frequent recently.

Hardly worth the effort of doing anything special but no harm opting in as by chance you may save a little over your average. Do that twice and you get a free hour at a time you can chose. Not worth much though

They are doing it for their benefit of course. Sometimes the wholesale price of energy is very high and at others there is so much surplus renewable energy that wholesale price goes negative and they get cash if they can get their customers to use it.

The stupidity of net zero policies which endanger the grid.

I'm with Octopus. You have to sign up at some point for saving sessions I think. I spin the wheel to earn Octoplus points but have only ever got the minimum. Just donated mine to Bowel cancer, a friend is in hospital just now, just had surgery for it. 🤞🏼
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I had a look and they said they have a problem with BT sending emails

We are on EE formally BT I wonder if that's it .

klondike

Are you getting other emails to the email address you registered with them ?

If not change it to one that works. You may need to get them to do that on the phone if they can't contact the one they have.
