Notting hill Carnival

Notting Hill Carnival: the annual festival of mass sexual assaults, stabbings, drug dealing and violence, all while the media and politicians call it a "vibrant celebration of culture."
Hundreds of arrests every year, officers assaulted, people knifed,  what's not to like ?

It's certainly very representative of our multicultural society

I certainly wouldn't go there.. I would be 'out of place'.
Years back I would have done.. back when it wasn't centred around drugs.. violence and crime..

To be fair there were only two stabbings last year and over 400 arrests..  The previous year was a bumper one with 8 stabbings.  Yes I did Google

Perhaps they can beat last years dismal performance. A dozen or two maybe.

I used to live in the Carribean where " crop over ' is the big carnival thing .
Once the celebration after the harvest was over .
However it has degenerated into horrendous  noise and obscene sexual twerking ' which has upset many of the local people who remember it differently .

Not bad considering that over the two days the attendance was estimated at between 1,000,000 and 2,000,000

I remember years ago my son borrowed a big plastic cool box for a concert or festival. It never came back, I found out later what had happened to it and it wasn't good. It wasn't him or his mates to blame either he assured me.

In theory I am not against the NHC .
Although every year is a bit much to stump up for policing when the country is going broke .

But it ( like crop over in the carribean ) has degenerated
It's not exactly family friendly

Who would want children to see half naked people twerking in the streets ?
What about "public decency ' ?
And this goes for the disgusting 'pride ' parades too .

I don't know we have one lot of people in the country doing this sort of thing and another lot dressed up as the grim reaper .

It's certainly diverse .
