But apart from that he is a great advocate against cruelty to animals .
And he puts his money where his mouth is .
He has just donated $180,000 to help free the last 150 bears kept on Vietnamese bile  farms .
This unspeakable cruelty means the bears are kept in tiny cages where they can hardly move for decades while their bike is extracted for traditional medicine .

Yes, sounds like a good bloke.
I am a great supporter of actions against those people who are cruel to animals, all animals.
Taking the bears' bikes away is particularly nasty, though!  Circus bears, I assume?

Every so often I come across an act of cruelty to animals I'd never heard of. I fear there are no limits some won't go to to make money. Good for Ricky Gervais.

Yes, he does a lot for animals doesn't he.
Only thing I wonder is, he has hopefully contributed towards getting those bears out,   but what is to stop these people just getting more and starting again?

Vietnam has banned the keeping of bears for bile since 2005 it's just that the remains bears were still imprisoned by various legal loopholes.
