I'm guessing whoever conducted the autopsy does but the results don't appear to have been made public. They will have to be eventually I assume as there is to be an inquest. I asked AI in case there was something reported that I'd missed but all that said was..

Most people do not move in academic circles and won't have even heard of him .
Academics mat have questioned his work and credentials but they do this academically .
Sadly the probability his fantasyland caught up with him and he was unable to live with it .

There are ways people can die of misadventure. 
I'm not suggesting it is the cause but here is one such example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erotic_asphyxiation as is accidental drug overdose which I'm not suggesting as a cause either.

I don't know if it is normal or abnormal to not release cause of death when it must be known because there will have been an autopsy. If the autopsy was inconclusive they'd surely have said so.

I think the establishment is embarrassed that he got away with all the BS so long and that may be a reason too.

Cambridge University should certainly be embarrassed .
They have debased themselves by lack of due diligence .
