Looking through some old threads on the Memory Lane thread  made me think back to memories of my school days.

Did your school used to insist all the girls had to wear those awful thick navy blue knickers?
I remember some of the posher girls had grey ones with a little pocket on them.

We had to do PE in our knickers too.   Do they still do that nowadays?

Was it only the girls who they specified certain underwear to,  or did you boys have to wear a certain type of underpants too?

We also were not allowed to leave the dining tables until we had eaten every scrap on our plate too.
I don't have any grandchildren,  so I have no idea what they make the youngsters do nowadays.

Seems like another lifetime ago now . . .   :hmm:

What did you like/dislike about your school days?

I vaguely remember the girls tucking blouses into big navy knickers but can't recall for the life of me what we boys did in the earlier two schools. I was in a boys only school from 11 and we had gym kit, rugby kit and cricket kit. If the ground was frozen in winter we ran cross country in the rugby kit. I imagine we had pumps for that but might have done it in rugby boots.

I liked holidays best.

They all have school colour PE kit now, stretchy cycling shorts are popular with the girls.  My teen girls wear them under short skirts too.  Only one still at school now.

Grandson used to wear school specified tee shirt, and navy shorts.  He's at 6th form college now, I don't think he does PE, he does play rugby though.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Navy blue knickers.. White t-shirt.. The boys wore shorts (I think).
I used to play hockey.. I hated indoor gym.. climbing and jumping over a thing called the horse..
The boys would mock us if we walked by in our knickers...

I liked art... hated maths.. and needlework..

Sometimes disliking a teacher can spoil the subject ..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Not half,  disliking the teacher can make all the difference to your learning -  well it did to me, anyway.

I never liked maths either,  or geography.  Still can't do geography even now.  In fact, maybe that's why I can get lost in Tesco's car park,  let alone travelling the world.

We had bottle green knickers for school, also had to wear a toga for sports .  Thinking about it I hated all sports at school apart from maybe netball.    We also had' indoor' shoes which we had to wear at all times in the school, they were a bit like Mary Jane shoes only more clodhopper ..ish.

I hated maths too the teacher was a former SS member I think.  I loved English and French.
