I'm Stupid ..

So, I can ask a stupid question..

I have many White Clover grass seed.. The instructions are to mix with sand and scatter.. Do not cover with soil.. 
What sand should I use ?  I only need a small bag..
And where would I buy it ..?

Any garden centre should have sand, Scrumps.   You could ask them what type is best -  though I believe its Sharp Sand you want -  and just get a small carry-bag of it.    
B&Q have it too if there is one near you.   Or in the gardening section of B & M   sometimes.

I would have thought maybe best wait a bit longer though as it will be a tough time for seeds in this drought.

Just make sure it is sand for gardens though, and not builders sand.
See this I just found Scrumpts:


*   Use horticultural silver sand or fine sharp sand to sow grass seeds. These are lime-free, washed, and weed-free. Avoid builder's sand (which may contain cement) and beach sand (which contains salt). Sand alone has no nutrients, so mix 1 part sand with 3 parts topsoil to cover seeds and lock in moisture.

I was told NOT to cover with soil.. Just tread lightly on seed that has been added to sand..

Yes.   That's what I just said dear  -  horticultural sand or sharp sand  -  NOT builders sand.

I didn't know you could buy clover seed now I see there is loads of it online
I am going to order some red or crimson as I have loads of white naturally in my lawn.

My grass has been patchy for years.. No-matter how much I spent on trying to restore it ..
I have now decided not to bother.. Clover grass for me (white)..
I am looking forward to scattering them August/September... 

I now know what sand to use..

You'll need to keep an eye out for wild tortoises. A herd of those will strip it bare in no time.
