He was in the charge of carers. Autistic I think was said.

News this morning says he's been released, and totally cleared from it all.

26-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murdering former MP Ann Widdecombe has been released, police say

Devon and Cornwall Police say he is "no longer part of the investigation" and the murder inquiry is "moving at a significant pace"

Widdecombe, 78, was found dead at her home in Haytor, Devon, on Thursday having sustained serious injuries

Yes, I heard that on the news too, Raven.
I wonder what made them arrest him in the first place though?

Apparently her house had security cameras all around .
Maybe they arrested the gardener who I understand found her body .
Just speculation on my part .

I think its best not to speculate,  truth will out eventually.

Everyone is wondering what happened and has their own thoughts, personally I can't see anything wrong with discussing in on here.

OK.  Fair enough.   Sorry Alex.

They have now arrested another man in Yorkshire .

The fact that Reform MPs have now been given 24hour protection suggests they suspect a political motive or of course maybe just hedging their bets in case.

Scary old world out there..
Because of the news of the (murder) of Anne Widdicombe I closed windows last night that I have been leaving open during this heatwave..
The press always use the word 'murder' concerning her death...
It sounds as if someone has gone to her home with this intent..

Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I don't know why this particular crime has affected me.  I really liked Ann, loved listening to her speeches and debates.  I wasn't a Strictly fan but did see her 'dancing' on it, she didn't care what people thought of her. It does make you feel vulnerable as a woman living alone and knocking on a bit like Ann.  Scrumpy said she closed her windows last night.  Sad isn't it ?

Just a thought, why would someone from Yorkshire travel 275 Miles to Dartmoor  ? a burglary ? surely plenty of houses closer to home to rob.

GrannyMac

The arrest was in Rotherham. Not a million miles from me, a long way from Exmoor.  As you say Alex, I wonder what was the motive.

I thought AW was a real character, I didn't agree with some of her views, but I respected her strength of character.

Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

In today's paper it said she had very good security at her home,  with many cameras,  although Police struggled to decipher her doorbell camera and rumour has it that it was smashed, probably by the intruder.

It also said they think she may have left her back door open because of the heat.
That seems quite feasible to me.
