Quote from: Flying Bomb on Yesterday at 09:38:15 PMShe took a big risk living in an isolated cottage at her age.
Maybe a big dog would have saved her from attack.

But at her age,  would she have been able to look after a 'big dog'?

I believe she had lived there nearly  30 years,  and perhaps never expected trouble in such a quiet place.

Living in a town.. high rise flat.. or country lane..
  It can happen anywhere..
It happens in broad daylight.. Attacks in the park (recently).. An old gentleman walking his dog..
Even a man in a  mobility scooter.. was attacked and later died..
Thugs.. killers have no fear of being seen by the public.. It is the public who fear these people and usually walk by..

Except that lovely old lad who .. when seeing a robbery take place... hit the robbers with her handbag..
The robbers didn't raise a single finger in retaliation.. They would call that 'Respect man'..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

The cause of this relatively recent increase in crime:
- poor policing;
- weak and inadequate punishment.

JBR..
You are so right.. Thugs.. killers.. and the like have no fear of facing a judge.. policeman.. or prison..
They rule inside and out..

The police have their hands tied.. and the judge is guided by others as to what sentence is dished out..

We are a weak country.. That being the reason for so many uninvited visitors..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Assuming it's the same one this is the story of the Northampton Citizen Vigilante with her trusty bag...

Men don't get smarter as we age.  We just run out of stupid stuff to do.

Brave woman, but she could have been knocked down and injured, or even killed.
She was lucky this time, but I admire her.

Crime generally should be punished far more harshly.  I know I have said this before, but I believe that is the reason why there seems to be far more criminal activity today, along with the apparent lack of policing ability now.

I'm sure it is more than a coincidence that such things have become much worse since Labour became our government.
