Chris Wickland is a vicar , a C of E clergyman .
He has taken issue with King Charles over thr Defender of the Faith title .
Apart from the fact that the original title FD ( Fidei Defensor  ) was awarded by the Pope to Henry V111 for writing a thesis defending the Roman Catholic Church
This was before he fell out with said Pope over wives and divorces .

Which one is right ?

?

Alex

There's an error on the link Muddy.

Oh dear
I don't know how to fix it
This man Chris Wickland is a fiery character who posts online under the title the Vexed Vicar .
He posts on the state of our country today and correctly foretold the rising oil / food  prices some months back.
He says woke liberalism will destroy the U.K.
Maybe the CofE ( and everyone else )should listen to him .

muddy

Rarely have I heard a man - much less a man of the cloth speak out with such integrity and clarity .

He says we have allowed evil to walk among us and he is right . There is a horrible reversal of right and wrong .

And we see it in the threads about rapists ,two tier policing justice  the horrible pro Hamas parades and we allow terrorist groups like the Mullah backed IRCG

As for the  horrific rise of anti semitism , the demonisation  of Israel  many liberals today would fit nicely in with the blackshirts of thee 2930s

Our country our world is allowing nay championing evil .

The title 'Defender of the Faith' was changed, by Charles,  ages ago.  It is now 'Defender of Faith', supposedly to encompass all beliefs.  Is that a betrayal or is it a King trying to encourage his subjects to live peaceably together?

muddy

I personally think Charles would be hard put to knock the skin off a rice pudding .
He has shown strength once in his life he held out for Camilla .
However doing this he caused pain and sadness to his young wife who thought she had married a man who loved her and anguish to his children .
However this happens in life .
People break up and there is always someone who is hurt .

Nevertheless it's time Charles stood up for the religion or at least the values of this country .
The country in which he enjoys the position of King .

Which are even if you are not religious at all are Christian .
We all know what 'all faiths' mean .
It's not your Bhuddist down the road or your local Druid having a solstice party .

It is a betrayal .

King Charles, a man for all seasons?

Lol, Vlad, Charles compared with Thomas More?  Hmm - well - he is not my King, so I'll just go quietly away, and remember how wonderfully Martin Shaw portrayed More on stage!

I liked More...  This might have been a better quote for Charles...."You must not abandon the ship in a storm because you cannot control the winds....What you cannot turn to good, you must at least make as little bad as you can."
I liked him but my hero was Thomas Cromwell, 😀

Indeed - they were both quite remarkable men.  Both strong minded and strong willed, both manipulative, albeit in different ways. Both came to grief.

Would love to discuss it with you, but best we leave it there - and not hijack Muddy's thread

Why are our Christian leaders so reticent on all this ?
I include in this the Pope ( For what it's worth  I am a lapsed Catholic )
On the contrary we are told have to embrace others
More specifically those who are not Bhuddists and Druids and definitely not Jews
We have to welcome others whose intention is to harm us .
Why ?
We don't have a moral obligation to house the whole world and give way to their medieval values .
The king has been utterly useless .
As a none royalist I don't find this surprising .
His  main interest is preserving an anachronistic system of privilege for one mediocre family

I agree, Muddy.
Yes, this country is becoming weaker day by day under this government, and I cannot see any reversal of it until 2029.

With regard to Charlie-boy, our weakest monarch probably of all time, I cannot stand how he appears to actively encourage the increase of islam in our country along with the failing of Christianity.  Yes, I am an atheist, but under Christianity this country has developed to become the greatest nation on earth (though now having sunk to an all-time low).

I look forward to William taking over, assuming that we still have a monarchy by then.
Numquam credere Gallicum

He will take over but ( as I have said on other occasions - as I get older I do repeat myself ) he will be the last King of England .
Barring some accident George will not be king the monarchy will have long gone by then.
