Drinking Water

How much water do you try and drink each day  -  or don't you?

They are always telling us we should have 'so many'  glasses,  but they never say what size glass they are talking about!
There would be a lot of difference between  4 little tumblers  to 4 pint size ones, wouldn't there.

So what do you like to aim for?
I have been drinking about 3 and a bit pints during this hot weather,  plus tea and coffee as well.

I normally drink about two litres of water a day - but it has to be really cold - keep refilling bottles and leaving them in the 'fridge.  Have been drinking more because of this heat.  I also drink tea first thing in the mornings to kick start the day.

I used to prefer purified water. Trouble was I put on too much weight and kept dropping off to sleep. That's the problem with gin.

2 litres?   That's about 4 pints in old money isn't it?
Blimey,  I'd never be out the loo.

Is that your normal amount,  or just because of this heatwave?

Silver Tabby

Normal amount, Mups, more in this heat!

I drink a glass of water when I think about it.. I don't have a goal or or measure my water intake..
In this heatwave I fill a jug of cold water add freshly squeezed lemon juice and pop it in the fridge..
I also drink tea and one coffee a day.. I think common sense has a lot to do with it..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I start the day off with a pint glass of water and lemon before I go to the pool, sets my digestive system up for the day. Depending on how hot it gets I drink around a litre of water through the day, summer and winter, often more in the summer.

Mups

Yes, I like half a lemon squeezed into the water too -  and an ice cube if I've made some.

Couple of pints, I take a water bottle when i go out.  Other soft drinks and the odd coffee during the day. Tea first thing.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I bought small bottles of water and keep them in the fridge, I usually get through 3 a day and take one up to bed too so thats 2 litres.

I don't like drinking from plastic bottles.
I remember ages ago, reading they can be dangerous if left in the sun.
For example,  these cyclists who have them strapped to their bikes all day,  or those that leave them in hot cars etc.

Just had a look to refresh my memory,  and found this:

Question -  Are plastic bottles safe in the heat?

A.  " No. Heat causes standard plastic bottles to degrade, releasing chemicals (such as antimony and BPA) into your water and rapidly accelerating bacterial growth once the seal is opened

* Also,  a bit more detail here from the food safety people:

I would never drink from a bottle, Mups, I always use a glass.

That is an interesting article - thank you for the link.

It's not just about drinking from the bottle, Tabs,   if the water is contaminated from the plastic,  pouring it into a glass is a bit late.

When I used to go to Yoga,  I used to take a small glass bottle, and fill it from the tap before I left home.

Right,  I'm off to bed now  - not than I am expecting much sleep in this awful heat.

Mups, I was agreeing with your comment

.

If I am out and about I take a small flask, which has it's own cup - so not a problem.
