This awful heat

Oh no !!!  Another rise in temp .. Monday set to be 30..
Bloody fed up with it.. My legs don't like it..

At this rate I'm seriously considering turning the heating off.

What is this going to do do our food prices later on?

What will the farmers horses, cattle, sheep  live on through the winter because grass is not growing to make any winter hay for them?
If dairy animals don't eat enough,  milk production will drop, too.

Their outdoor pigs skins can burn without enough shade.

I read the other day about fish showing signs of stress  (how do they know what a stressed fish looks like?),  because their water levels are getting so low.

Vegetables won't be as plentiful or as good quality without the rain.

I don't know if poultry is laying as well because of the heat too?

What with this ongoing heat,  plus the wildfires increasing,  I reckon this summer will finish some farmers.   

All this,  and yet those wealthy  b*****ds  still force their horses to race!!

And while I am thinking of horse racing,  Dog racing is being banned from more and more places now,  so why isn't horse racing!    My guess its because of its the powerful 'elite'  in charge.

The farmers around here have and a bumper hay crop it is just earlier .
Also straw .
In Spain all the horses are fed on straw as opposed to hay .
Here I think the cattle are being given supplementary feeds they all look well and fat .
The sheep are being fed too .
I haven't seen any pigs around at all so I suppose they are indoors somewhere .

I saw on the news today that farmers are having to use their animal feed supplies because there isn't any fresh grass that stock can feed on..

I am not at all surprised.   So that alone is going to put the prices up as they will have to buy extra feed towards winter, if they are having to use it all up now.

If they managed to get their hay fields cut early,  they were lucky indeed.     It hasn't rained for so long now that I doubt the grass has  regrown.    It hasn't round here.

Feeding horses on straw?  Surely there can't be much goodness in that for them?
Just looked it up, and it says it must never be fed as a sole diet.   It  is mostly used as a low-calorie diet for overweight horses.

I must admit, I haven't seen any outdoor pigs round this way for years.   Poor things.

I know that it's an alien concept to feed horses straw but that's what they do in Spain .
