I have just found a new bottle of shampoo that I lost - in the dogs box !

Ah, a clean doggie with glossy hair...  Where else would the shampoo be?

My old Maggiemay hated a bath, if I was running one even for myself she would run out the back door at top speed, wouldn't wait to see who the bath was for. Her favourite hiding place was in the middle of a huge pampus grass, had a devil of a job getting the silly ass out of it.

Raven,  I thought my Beddies were bad enough,  but a coat like your Maggiemay's  must have been really hard work to keep clean and groomed.

Maggiemay has such a nice, friendly grin.

It's a daily chore, especially if you have more than one, as I did. You need specific grooming tools and they're not cheap, but they do a great job. Daily grooming is about ten minutes if done daily. They are double coated and the undercoat matts if you don't take good care of it.
I bought a grooming table and it folded flat, I took it outside in the good weather, the wee robins used to pinch the fallen fur for their nests, as soon as they saw me setting up they would fly down and wait for some to be dropped. This is Pashka in both photos. Used the table for Dageus as well, his coat was very much like the Sheepies.

Yes she was a lovely old lass, but the boss of the dogs. She really kept them all in line. She was the only one I ever owned that had bright blue eyes, all the rest of the clan had brown eyes.

Raven,  lovely pictures for you to treasure.
Years ago when I used to be involved with dog clubs etc,  they used to say that some of the  Border Collies with the merle coats and blue eyes were showing blindness,  and deafness too.
It was linked to the unnatural blue eyes,  and genetics.

I can't remember it all now,  but there was talk about stopping breeding from the merles because of this.
Interesting though,  isn't it.

I too,  put the Beddies coat clippings out for the birds.   I put it in those little wire bird feeder things that people use for Suet blocks.
Earlier in the year when they start nest building,  they come and pull it out through the wire and fly off with it.
I did read lately though,  that not to put this sort of thing out for the birds if the dog has been recently wormed or deflead,  as the chemicals can harm the baby birds in the nest.
