I'm not a football fan, but I thought a thread would be inevitable.😉

So, as Scotland has played their first match, and won, I thought I'd start one.  Scotland 1 - Haiti 0. Well done the Jocks! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Our first match is Croatia .
They are quite good .

Mups

They said on the news the other night,  that it is proven that when big football matches are on,  domestic violence goes up by 30%.

To my knowledge,  people don't change because of Golf, Tennis, Cricket etc,  so why does football make  so many men turn into juveniles and maniacs?   :hmm:

Spain and Cape Verde a draw .
Great result for Cape Verde
Spain are the favourites .

The supermarkets aren't stacking tins of beer and lager in every available space when Wimbledon is on are they?

Maybe they are for the folks who can't afford champers and strawberries ?

Another thing that bugs me is, its not only the match they show is it.
It's the 3 hrs nattering  about it beforehand,  then the 3 more hours re-hashing it again afterwards.

(I'll shut up now,  don't want to spoil other people's enjoyment just because I can't stand it).  :lipsrsealed:

Alex

Maybe you can't stand it because you don't understand it Mups ?  I was the same when I was young but married to a footballer so I had no choice.  I went from being a football hater to a season ticket at Anfield !  (not mine a borrowed one)

Nah,  I was married to a football fanatic once, Alex.  Football for breakfast, dinner and tea.
He would go every Saturday down to Spurs to watch them,  then come home and watch the same flippin' match on telly all over again.
That was my Saturdays done for,  and my Saturday night telly too.
He followed Spurs all his life.

Alex

That explains it then, even I wouldn't watch Spurs

I am being subjected to boring football matches on a daily basis.
I do go into another room when it's gets too bad

Like yesterday
Watching the French win was just too much .

 Fair enough.

One day I thought about the old saying   'if you can't beat 'em,  join them.'    It was obvious Spurs meant the world to him, so I thought I would try to understand the game and got him to take me with him to a game.

During the half time a bloke ran out from the crowd and started running across the pitch.
Next thing I saw was a beautiful German Shepherd bounding across the grass after the man.  Then to my horror, he pulled out a gun and started firing at the dog.
Bearing in mind there had been no announcement - nothing,  so I thought,  in my young gullibility,  that it was all for real and he was about to kill the dog.
I was standing up, shouting and crying by then.   My hubby told me sit down and shut up as  it was only a demo!      I had never seen anything like that before, and thought it was for real.

He never took me to any more matches  after that.

I used to go to football matches ( I was going out with a footballer )
I will watch the England match tonight .
