Should children learn poetry

The children are fine mups.. They just have to read the instructions on the packet..
Sewing !! Not needed.. Primark will provide a cheap replacement.. 
Nobody taught me how to put a flatpack together.. paste and wallper a wall..
The internet is full of useful information...

Poetry can be  beautiful, I agree,  but it wouldn't help them learn how to look after themselves when they don't live with Mum & Dad anymore.

With the current availability of rental housing (soon in freefall as landlords jack it in thanks to the new tenants rights) and cost (increasing rents for the same reason),  the need to save a monster deposit for vastly overpriced private housing and most and HMO accomodation going to you-know-who most wont be leaving home any time soon.

I agree Klondike 
My so fondly imagines his children ( late teens ) will be leaving home soon to make their own way.
I don't like to disillusion him .
My other grandchild is 21 but has no more hope of getting her own place that fly to the moon .
Tiny flats are going for £350 in their area .
People say move then but you have to go where you can work .
