Has anyone used the Silver line phone service for the elderly if in need of chat because of lonelyness?

klondike

I wasn't aware of it so no.

Silver Tabby

Never heard of it, sorry.

GrannyMac

It's part of Age UK services for older people.  I haven't used it, but I volunteer at our local AUK drop in for pensioners who want help with Pension Credit and other issues. There are different befriending services, phone calls or visits to people who are isolated.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I have never used it or heard of it..

What a great idea for those who need to chat to someone..
One never knows what our future holds and when a friendly voice at the end of a phone is needed..

Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Wasn't Esther Ransom  something to do with Silverline years ago?
Didn't she help promote it?

Yes, I think you're right, FB.

Just looked it up and thought I would give the link,  just incase anyone ever feels they need it.

I do wonder why it states for anyone 55 and over.  55 is hardly middle aged these days.  It's the same with some sheltered housing, anyone over 55 can apply.  Some of have children older than that!  (Me)

Perhaps it's time for making services for older people start at least at 60 if not 65.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I tend to agree Granny,   55 is no great age nowadays is it.

klondike

Might not be great but I wouldn't mind being 55 again

18 would be better.

Hah.     But you've just given me an idea  . . . .

klondike

Yeah I heard about that but dancing round a tree naked at full moon doesn't work. Well it didn't for me anyway.
